meghann + stephen tied the knot last weekend in the city of brothery love! their ceremony was held at old st. mary’s church followed by a celebration at the historic 18th century powel house. meghann fell in love with our signature philly save the date, but wanted to formalize  the fonts and replace the postcard layout with a card and envelope. it’s refreshing to see this design in patriotic colors, perfect for the upcoming memorial day weekend ahead!

check out the exploding box in action!

when brooke and her mother came to us last year with visions of an out-of-the-box invitation suite for her bat mitzvah, we couldn’t wait to get the design process under way. brooke had a love for fashion and loved the idea of incorporating different patterns, fabrics and textiles in the invitation. we loved her non-traditional, bold color palette of black, white, maroon with pops of turquoise. their “exploding box” invitation was layered with brandy melville inspired black and white striped canvas fabric and square maroon cover stock screen printed with black and turquoise ink. custom pockets on both sides held the details for the celebration, as well as the rsvp postcard (complete with personalized brooke postage). the black boxes were wrapped with a vibrant turquoise suede wrap and finished with her B squared monogram (since her initials were B.B.). they arrived to guests in white square boxes with custom address labels which wrapped around the box. when the lids were pulled off of these boxes, the invitations were literally out-of-the-box!

we didn’t stop there! for her amazing party, we designed mints, water bottles, and hand-sanitizers all continuing with the B theme. tables were dressed with custom menus and bold patterned table numbers. as guests entered the hotel, they were greeted with a beautiful display of white marble escort cards hand written in black ink by ashley of hello, bird, with a few B inspirational tiles sprinkled throughout! this family truly knows how to throw a fabulous celebration and we were honored to be a party of it!

work wednesday: GD50.

gd50_event_uarts_swiss_design_loveleigh_invitations_

this past weekend we celebrated GD50, a commemoration of 50 years of graphic design at our college, the university of the arts. chey was asked to party chair the event with dee by her side to design and set up for the big day. it was an intense 18 months of design and collaboration with fellow alumni to make it all happen…a full weekend of exhibits, workshops, symposium and party. the party was a success…guests were greeted outside by rumble (a bucket-drum ensemble) and entered into a red-lit sixties cocktail space where they enjoyed a beer tasting by st. benjamin’s brewing co. after cocktail hour, they entered into main event space for dinner, which was glittered with cafe lights and a mix of red and white paper lanterns. entertainment for the night included sword fighting and a quartet interspersed with activities such as live screen printing, memory wall and photo booth. our role in the event was such an honor and it was overwhelming to see all of our past professors and reconnect with new and old alumni. WE ARE HERE.

as the weather warms up we are currently crushing on natural branches, ferns and wildflowers. this brings us back to samantha and brian’s big day which was held at front & palmer in philadelphia. wild stems was instrumental in infusing the room with energy and life with these whimsical arrangements as well as creating our favorite part — that beautifully lit canopy that hung over the aisle!

the intern explores: lily of the valley cupcakery.

IMG_0066 IMG_0064

to celebrate our last official day of classes, my friend and i stopped by lily of the valley cupcakery and cafe in glenside, pa. this sweet shop, which just recently opened near my school amongst the adorably quaint keswick village, was the perfect place to go for a treat after a stressful spring semester. with its multitude of decadent flavors, we found ourselves overwhelmed in the best way possible when it came to selecting a flavor. while i went with the double chocolate (no surprise there) and she went with their ever-popular strawberry shortcake, each option seemed like the right choice! the charming feel of the shop only added to its appeal as well, and its inexpensive menu made it that much more entrancing for a college student like me. it’s going to be hard not to constantly stop in for a treat during my next two weeks of finals! wish me luck!

until next time.

work wednesday: jillian + dave.

jillian and dave, who wed last june at the congregation rodeph shalom before celebrating amongst family and friends at the please touch museum, desired a balance of elegance and quirk for their invitation suite. their two color letterpress invites were entirely eggplant purple except for the pop of a chartreuse green bow tie indicating guests to sport their very own green bow ties in honor of the couples’ favorite color! their rsvp postcards were presented in madlibs style and featured an 1876 etching of memorial hall during the world’s fair as a homage to their playful reception venue. but the quirkiest part of their cards, perhaps, were the minute details that were added to show the couple’s personality. an alpaca etching was featured on the kraft paper tags, to represent the unforgettable day that dave proposed to jillian in front of a live alpaca! there is also a mini alpaca hidden in the postcard image along with custom monogrammed laurels. their suite was tied together with a chartreuse silk ribbon and tag announcing their website before being mailed out in pale gray envelopes digitally printed with guests’ addresses. we are thrilled with the completion of this suite, and wish this couple a lifetime of fun and fulfillment together!

the intern explores: a philadelphia phillies game.

friday phillies post

this past week, i had the opportunity to attend a philadelphia phillies game with my best friends. i was born and raised in the philly suburbs, so it’s no surprise that i’m apart of the avidly enthusiastic philadelphia fan culture, but i haven’t fully invested in this individual team since their world series-win in 2008. while i did go to the game with two mets fans, i decided not to hold it against them and stuffed my face with hot dogs and sugary treats instead. not only was it fun getting outside for a while and enjoying the competitive atmosphere, but it was great to tap into the childhood nostalgia i associate with baseball games and warm weather. it brought me back to summer nights playing wiffle ball with my dad, and the carefree nature i’d find myself emerged in. within our hectic lives today, that innocent nature is often lost, but it’s something we’ve got to work on remembering. so put off your adult responsibilities from time to time in light of dancing, singing, and stuffing your face alongside great friends! it’s oddly healing!

until next time.
