after designing christina’s wedding invitation suite, her family returned to us with a request to create stationery to celebrate her new arrival! we created a modern, square letterpress baby shower invitation for her celebration held at kanella. the invitation was digitally printed on a luxurious cranes cotton cover stock and the mother-to-be’s name was pressed with a bright poppy ink! the colors and design were inspired by the bright felt pom pom garland they had hung in the baby’s nursery. the square card was mailed in a grey envelope with a modern animal pattern envelope liner which included christina’s favorite furry friend, a llama. guest addresses were printed in a charcoal ink. in addition, we created coordinating thank you notes. the cards were simple letterpress folded notes printed with the same vibrant palette. the thank you envelopes were grey with a bright aqua liner featuring similar animal silhouettes. we wish christina and adam all the best they prepare for this exciting new chapter!

we get so excited when couples come back to us asking us to design for more of life’s celebrations, especially when they’re having a baby! dara and her soon-to-be baby girl will be showered this weekend at terrain at styer’s in glen mills, pennsylvania. she came to us with a vision of a bohemian style baby shower invitation that included a watercolor/dip-dyed look and casual fonts. the invitation was paired with a bookmark size note to let guest know to bring books for the baby’s library. the pieces were placed inside a digitally addressed kraft envelope which was lined with a feminine floral watercolor pattern. we had way too much fun working on these and can’t wait to see pics of the special day!

work wednesday: shannon’s baby shower.

shannon and matt celebrated the arrival of their first child this november at the gardenville hotel in pipersville, pennsylvania with friends and family. for their shower invitation, the couple loved the idea of white puffy clouds, the stork and a neutral color palette (since the baby’s gender will be a surprise!) the light gray envelopes were digitally printed and addressed to guests in a hand-written style font. we wish the couple lots of happiness during this special time and we can’t wait to meet their bundle of joy!

pam and pat are eagerly awaiting the arrival their little boy! due in august, she was showered with love by family and friends at her winnie the pooh themed baby shower in june. we were asked to create her invitations and a few party materials! while designing, we came across this adorable quote from mr. pooh himself: sometimes the littlest things take up the most room in your heart. it was so perfect we knew we had to incorporate it into the invitations. we also created coordinating thank you notes and a double-sided card with an area to write a note to their baby boy and where her guests could select the traits from both parents they thought he may have! finally, where would winne the pooh be without his hunny?! our custom kraft tags were the perfect finishing touch for the honey bear favors (pam’s mom’s brilliant idea!) we wish these parents-to-be best lots of luck as they enter this amazing new chapter.

work wednesday: baby boy shower.

dee’s cousin christine, had a baby shower this past spring. christine asked us to design a few party pieces for guests to fill out while she opened gifts. using the chalkboard theme from her invitations, we created a patterned, stacked activity package that was arranged at each place setting. each included a bingo sheet, a mad-libs-inspired prediction card, and a place to write wishes for the baby boy. we also designed matching thank you note cards!

christine + bryan welcomed their beautiful baby boy a few weeks later!

work wednesday: dee’s baby shower.

my (dee) baby shower was held back in november at the beautiful buck hotel in feasterville, pennsylvania. of course chey designed the invitations for me! i loved the idea of mixing elements like watercolor, polka dots, chevron and of course gold glitter!! we didn’t really have a “theme” for the nursery or the party, but i fell in love with the saying from this h+m onesie, happy happy baby. that cute saying became the focal point of the invitation and the colors were based off of the baby’s nursery — coral, peach, navy, white and gold. the invitations were mailed in glitter-lined navy envelopes and hand addressed in gold ink by melanie from gracefully addressed.

we didn’t have too many games at the shower, but i did want guests to have something to do while i opened gifts. they played baby bingo and also filled out a little note to baby lyons and selected the traits from both pat and i they thought she may have (we both a great time reading them that night!) for our favor, we found these super cute old fashioned mini pies in a variety of flavors! it was right before the holiday season and we thought they were the perfect way to say thank you to our guests. they were tied with yarn with a tiny tag that read thank you for celebrating our new little sweetie pie! it was such a fabulous day for our new little family-to-be!

happy things.

happy baby!! as some of you know i (chey) gave birth to a healthy baby girl, fiona rae, on december 6, 2012. i promise to share some photos of my beautiful sweetie very soon! life has been a quite chaotic and i’m slowly catching up with my other love, loveleigh, once again! dee has been doing an absolutely incredible job holding down the fort while i get the hang of being a mom. thought i’d share a few of my favorite baby items so far and some things i hope to purchase or create soon…

{a} with just some mini canvases, plastic animal toys, paint and glitter you can have a bright and bold animal art wall in the nursery. think i might try this! diy instructions from veetje; {b} fiona absolutely loves swinging and listening to her ipod in her 4moms mamaroo, available at buy buy baby; {c} these aden + anais bamboo swaddles are so luxuriously soft and come in the best patterns; {d} i need to get a hold of this book, mom inc. as i try to balance work and family from home, available through chronicle books; {e} these colorful wall knobs would be the perfect solution to display her pretty dresses in her cozy nursery, by the land of nod; {f} i love the design and function of this lawn bottle drying rack, available at buy buy baby; {g} fiona’s storybooks fit perfectly in between these gold pig bookends, from cb2.

chey’s baby shower.

we are introducing a new theme of personal posts to give you more of a sense of who we are! we thought it would be appropriate to share my baby shower photos today because of the intense showers we are currently getting soaked with across the mid-atlantic. we hope those near us are cozy indoors and stay safe during hurricane sandy.

as you can see my baby shower was a fabulous day full of family, friends, and lots of adorable sweets! the shower theme and colors were set with my invitation designed by danielle. my mom hosted the shower in her home and we had a great time decorating with tissue balls, flowers, and oversized balloons by shop sweet lulu. those cute cupcakes were homemade by my good friend dottie and those beautiful aqua and coral cakes baked by danielle’s talented mom of dot’s cakes. my baby girl was showered with the most wonderful and creative gifts. one of my favorites has to be that crocheted chevron blanket from my mom. we thanked our guests with orange blossom soap as their favors. see more of the display on hand in hand’s blog. my husband dave and i feel so grateful for all of the thoughtful people in our lives and look forward to welcoming our little lady into this world!

work wednesday: cheyenne’s baby shower invite.

how lucky am i to have danielle design my baby shower invitations!! i gave her my color palette, requested raindrops and a couple new fonts we just got our hands on. she worked her magic as usual to create this soft, patterned, feminine work of art. the elongated invites were printed in full color on cranes lettra paper. they were mailed out in papaya colored envelopes and addressed in white ink by gracefully addressed. various patterned washi tape was used to seal the envelope for a fun finishing touch. we’ll be sure to post a few photos from the shower next month!
